Patrick Clifford, PhD
Biography
Patrick Clifford, Ph.D., M.A., is a professor in the Department of Health Behavior, Society, and Policy Department at the Rutgers School of Public Health. Dr. Clifford received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the City University of New York, College of Staten Island, a master’s degree in psychology from the City University of New York, Hunter College, and a doctoral degree in behavioral science from the University of Texas, Health Science Center at Houston, School of Public Health. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship, National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism T32 program, in alcohol treatment/intervention research at Brown University, Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies.
Research Interests
Dr. Clifford’s research interests center on methodological and theoretical issues specific to alcohol treatment/intervention research. More specifically, his research involves investigations of assessment reactivity effects, mechanisms of behavior change underlying alcohol treatments and interventions, and the matching of individuals suffering an alcohol use disorder with specific Alcohol Use Disorder treatments/interventions. In addition, Dr. Clifford enjoys training graduate students to conduct clinical research related to alcohol treatments/interventions as well as mentoring graduate students and junior faculty.
