Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate II for the Urban Global Public Health Department within the School of Public Health, located in Piscataway, NJ.
The Gun Violence Research Center at Rutgers seeks to create safe and healthy environments for NJ residents to live, learn, work, and play by providing high-quality, multi-disciplinary research on firearm violence causality and prevention, and to translate this research into clear and actionable policies and programs. The Center partners with relevant local-, state-, and national-level experts, securing access to data to conduct and support research that identifies etiologic factors for firearm violence, develops and rigorously evaluates interventions to reduce the burden of firearm violence, and translates its scientific findings into effective programs and policies to better ensure their widespread adoption.
The Gun Violence Research Center at Rutgers University is looking for a Research Associate II to assist with the development, implementation, and analysis of gun violence related projects. The Research Associate II will work with the Executive Director and Assistant Director to collect and analyze data as well as communicating the science to the Center’s various stakeholders.
This position is 100% grant-funded. This project partnership is supported by the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education.
Duties include:
- Performs various research operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities of the Gun Violence Research Center; may conduct independently or as assigned specialized research for a particular project.
- Participates in the development of performance standards, selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the Center.
- Pursues peer reviewed publications on gun violence research in reputable science and research journals
Program Coordinator (Training, Outreach and Evaluation)
Rutgers School of Public Health (SPH) is seeking a Program Coordinator (Training, Outreach and Evaluation) for the Center for Public Health Workforce Development (CPHWD within the School of Public Health, located in Somerset, NJ.
The Program Coordinator supports the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of occupational safety and health research and training programs within the Center for Public Health Workforce Development at the Rutgers School of Public Health. The position plays a central role in maintaining the Center’s data and evaluation systems, supporting research activities, and ensuring compliance with institutional and grant requirements.
The Program Coordinator assists with day-to-day research operations, including preparing and maintaining IRB applications, coordinating participant recruitment and data collection, and managing documentation and reporting. The position also contributes to the preparation of evaluation reports, grant progress reports, and related communications.
A key focus of this role is helping to build and maintain the Center’s data management and collaboration systems across Teams, Box, and Qualtrics, as well as evaluation systems, supporting the streamlining of data workflows, file organization, and reporting tools. The coordinator will collaborate with faculty, staff, and partners to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across research, evaluation, and program management processes.
Work is conducted in alignment with the mission and goals of the School of Public Health, emphasizing evidence-based practice, program improvement, and workforce development in occupational safety and health.
Duties include:
- Reviews Federal, State, Local, and industry requirements and guidelines to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of occupational safety and health curriculum.
- Performs outreach activities engaging stakeholders, including conducting community needs assessments and facilitatingcollaboration, to increase awareness of occupational safety and health issues across Region 2 (NJ, NY, PR, and USVI).
- Schedules training, identify and assign course instructors, develop and update course curricula, perform evaluation of trainingprograms.
- Coordinate and oversee small and large offsite continuing education events for professionals and communityorganizations.
- Support the preparation of conference presentations, journal submissions, and public-facing materials thatcommunicate program impacts.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree is required preferably in Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Three (3) years of relevant work experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and technical documentation.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and present information to groups.
- Excellent interpersonal, administrative and computer skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and work collaboratively in diverse teams.
- Must be a team-player, innovative and a self-starter with motivation to contribute to the overall goals of the school/university.
- Demonstrated ability to work with the highest levels of university administration, as well as executives elsewhere in the public health sector.
- Performs professional level work that requires knowledge of program coordination, data management, and evaluation principles and the application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology of the organization.
- Must have an understanding of workplace safety and health standards.
Administrative Coordinator II
Rutgers School of Public Health (SPH) is seeking an Administrative Coordinator II in the Department of Health Behavior, Society and Policy, located in Piscataway, NJ. The Administrative Coordinator II will perform a wide variety of administrative support to the Department and Chair focused on academic planning, educational programming, the teaching and learning agenda, and student success. Assists in the planning, coordination and support of Department-related activities.
Duties include:
- Assists the Chair with administrative tasks and calendaring; represents the Chair and Department with professionalism; and maintains confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Provides administrative support for faculty research activities, including processing research-related expenses and reimbursements, ordering supplies for research projects, assisting with onboarding and orientation logistics for research staff, maintaining related administrative records, and coordinating with faculty, staff, and university offices to support timely research operations.
- Performs office management duties for programs overseen by the department. Determines workflow; monitors and processes necessary paperwork; maintains records and filing systems; maintains the department emergency contact list and related administrative records; handles subject fee vouchers, departmental deposits, gift cards, and associated tracking logs; maintains departmental calendars; coordinates with School offices to avoid scheduling conflicts; and manages room scheduling and setup for courses, seminars, meetings, and in-person events.
- Monitors and assists with student admissions and recruitment processes. Convene meetings of concentration leads and tracks outreach efforts to prospective students.
Post Doctoral Associate (Multi-omics Life Course Research)
The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Rutgers School of Public Health located in Piscataway, NJ is seeking a Post Doctoral Associate to join an interdisciplinary research program focused on pregnancy, life-course cardiometabolic health, and the developmental origins of health and disease.
The Post Doctoral Associate will work with longitudinal pregnancy and birth cohort data to investigate how metabolic and molecular characteristics during pregnancy contribute to maternal and offspring health across the life course. Current projects integrate epidemiologic data with metabolomics, proteomics, and other high-dimensional molecular measures to study pregnancy cardiovascular health, adverse pregnancy outcomes, placental biology, and later cardiometabolic disease.
The associate will have opportunities to lead manuscripts, develop independent research questions, contribute to NIH-funded and collaborative studies, present findings at scientific meetings, and participate in grant development. The position will provide training and mentorship in life-course epidemiology, pregnancy and perinatal epidemiology, and the analysis of high-dimensional molecular data.
This is a 12-month full-funded position, with additional years dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
Duties include:
- Lead analyses of longitudinal epidemiologic and molecular data.
- Develop and apply statistical approaches for metabolomics, proteomics, and related high-dimensional data.
- Prepare first-author manuscripts and scientific presentations.
- Collaborate with epidemiologists, biostatisticians, clinicians, and laboratory scientists.
