User Support Specialist IV
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a User Support Specialist IV for the Office of Computing & Technology within the School of Public Health. The primary purpose of the User Support Specialist IV position is to provide support for all technical questions concerning
desktop software and hardware. Under the direction of the Manager of the Office of Computing and Technology, supports the SPH end-user community (faculty, staff, students) in the effective access and use of University information resources and compliance with infrastructure and operating standards.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Provides basic personal computer support functions for all SPH Computer Laboratories.
- Provides IT helpdesk/customer service tasks such as hardware/software troubleshooting, smart classroom A/V support.
- Maintain the SPH website via simple edits and updates.
- Relates with the end-user community within the school in a manner that promotes confidence in the client as a professional service-oriented organization.
- Answers end-user questions or researches and responds to the question within an appropriate time.
- Provide and record educational content through seminars, lectures, or other mechanisms as required by OCT Leadership.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or computer technology technical school is required.
- At least one (1) year of experience in the use of desktop computing.
- Familiarity with academic and public health environment applications is required.
- Experience with imaging software, thin client technology, and general networking concepts such as IP stacks and wireless is required.
- Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Certifications/Licenses
- Valid Driver’s license is required to travel between campuses within Rutgers University.
Communications Specialist II
The Rutgers School of Public Health Office of Marketing and Communications exists to uphold and advance the mission, vision, and values of the school through increasing visibility, awareness, and reputation by highlighting students, faculty, alumni, programs, and research to New Jersey, national, and international audiences. The Office provides marketing, communications, and planning services, resources, and training to various units within the school. Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Communications Specialist II will be responsible for assisting with the execution of the school’s communication and engagement strategy and developing written content for distribution. They will also be responsible for leading the school’s monthly newsletter and webinar series.
Program Coordinator-Reproductive & Maternal Health
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator-Reproductive & Maternal Health for the Department of Urban-Global Public Health within Rutgers School of Public Health.
The Department of Urban-Global Public Health leads several initiatives to improve reproductive and maternal health, with a focus on New Jersey. Current projects include a multi-site evaluation of the statewide expansion of Centering Pregnancy group pre-natal care intervention, an evaluation of the Nurture New Jersey initiative to improve maternal-infant health, and a project to assess current and future capacity for providing abortion services in the state.
Under the direction of the Chair, Department of Urban-Global Public Health, the Program Coordinator will assist in coordinating the activities of the faculty, community researchers, consultants and staff involved in reproductive and maternal health projects, ensuring that grants are implemented smoothly and in accordance with budgets and timelines. Program Coordinator will also assist in coordinating research activities that take place at sites, communicate with evaluation partners, and serve as an investigator on select research teams. Program Coordinators with requisite training will be able to participate in data collection and analysis activities.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Coordinates day-to-day operations of the various research projects and activities.
- Serves as the primary liaison to Centering Pregnancy evaluation sites or other partners for the purposes of implementing key projects.
- Coordinates the work of community researchers including processing payment, scheduling and communicating about meetings and on-site research activities such as observations and focus groups, and troubleshoots any issues with navigating Rutgers systems.
- Arranges and coordinates project related meetings. Takes minutes and ensures that follow up activities are carried out.
- Serves as a member of the team, conducting select data collection and analysis activities which may include focus group facilitation, conducting one on one interviews or analyzing survey, focus group or interview data.
- Assists in ensuring that the Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements are met for new submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews; maintains a tracking database of IRB approvals.
- Assists in communicating with and providing information to financial and business operations staff at the program, department, school, and university levels; including department and administrative units such as Purchasing, Human Resources, Information Services and Technology, Accounting and Payroll.
- Assists in ensuring that expenditures are in accordance with the allocation of funds. Assists Program Director in anticipating project needs and securing necessary approvals for consultants or other purchased services.
- Assists Program Director in developing materials and presentations related to reproductive and maternal health projects
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or a related field
- Three (3) years of experience with project coordination or related experience.

The Program Director will also help to identify and craft grants for future projects, oversee coordination of research activities that take place at sites, communicate regularly with evaluation partners, and serve as an investigator on select research teams. A program director with requisite experience will be able to participate in data collection and analysis activities, including authoring papers and sharing findings at professional meetings.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Ensures implementation of current grants by convening research teams, creating implementation timelines, and coordinating team communication.
- Partners with the Principal Investigator in maintaining relationships with funders, state agencies, policy makers, community-based organizations and community members.
- Arranges and coordinates advisory and working groups, planning sessions, and other project-related meetings. Ensures that followup activities are carried out.
- Develops materials and presentations related to reproductive and maternal health projects and presents at select meetings.
- Identifies additional funding opportunities for work related to reproductive and maternal health, assists with grant preparation.

Postdoctoral Fellow (LGBTQ Public Health)
The Center for Health Identity Behavior & Prevention Studies (CHIBPS) (www.chibps.org) situated at the School of Public Health, Rutgers University has an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow. This is 2-year position with appointment available immediately. The overall goal for the post doctoral program is for the candidate to develop a high caliber scholarly portfolio in LGBTQ public health.
In addition to research activities, the post doc will coordinate activities for Annals of LGBT Public & Population Health, partake in the LGBTQ MPH concentration, and further development of LGBTQ health at Rutgers Health, as well as undertake active community dissemination activities.

The Center for Health, Identity, Behavior and Prevention Studies (CHIBPS) has been a nationally recognized center dedicated to conducting rigorous scientific research that advances Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning (LGBTQ) health since 2000. In particular, the work at CHIBPS focuses on understanding drivers of health disparities including HIV and other STIs, substance use, and mental health burdens. The CHIBPS research team includes individuals from a variety of disciplines such as psychology, public health, social work, and neuroscience.
The fellow will work on an all CHIBPS funded studies from inception to dissemination.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- PhD, ScD, MD or an equivalent doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, social and behavioral sciences (e.g., sociology, psychology), or related fields with strong emphasis on quantitative methods or applied statistics
- Must have extensive experience conducting statistical analyses with large databases using SAS or Stata.
- Strong applied quantitative data analytic skills and experience conducting statistical analyses with large databases.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of transgender health, LGBTQ health disparities, and HIV-affected populations.
- Track record of, or strong potential for, independent funding.
