Rutgers School of Public Health Convocation
Convocation is the Rutgers School of Public Health’s annual graduation ceremony. Graduates from the Class of 2023 will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
During this special ceremony, graduates will hear their name called, walk-across stage in front of their invited guests, and have their photo taken by a professional photographer. All Rutgers School of Public Health Newark and New Brunswick graduates from the Class of 2023 include those who completed their degree during the October 2022, January 2023, and May 2023 semesters.
Date: Wednesday, May 17, 2023
Arrive by: 8:30 a.m.
Ceremony Run Time: : 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (doors open for guests at 9:00 a.m.)
Regalia: Class of 2023 graduates who are on track to obtain their degree and who plan to participate in our school Convocation MUST wear academic regalia, which can only be purchased online from Oak Halli by April 17, 2023. Those in the Armed Forces must also wear academic regalia - military uniforms may be worn underneath academic gowns.
Invitations: Digital invitations will be available via email.
Tickets: Tickets are not required for guests.

Flowers and T-Shirts: If family/friends would like to pre-order flowers or t-shirts for a graduate, go to Commencement Flowers, here. Flowers can be picked-up at Convocation.
Students who anticipate completing their degree program in the current graduation year must complete a Graduation Application. The due dates for the application are as follows for each semester:
- Graduating at the end of Summer semester?
Application due August 1 and degree will be dated October 1.
- Graduating at the end of Fall semester?
Application due November 1 and degree will be dated January 16.
- Graduating at the end of Spring semester? Application due February 15 and degree will be dated May 14.

Join Rutgers University’s 256th Anniversary Commencement on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey. President Jonathan Holloway will address the degree candidates and guests and confer degrees. The Rutgers University - New Brunswick and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences Commencement is only open to the Class of 2023 (October 2022, January 2023, May 2023). We encourage people to attend and represent our school and students. Those participating in the Commencement ceremony will need to wear academic regalia (see above, “attire”).
An opportunity to recognize Rutgers School of Public Health Class of 2023 students for their tremendous academic and service-related achievements, as well as welcome new inductees to the Delta Omega Honor Society. Special registration will be required. This event is only open to invited individuals from the Class of 2023 and are selected through our End of Year Awards nomination process (October 2022, January 2023, May 2023). Additional information coming in April to those invited individuals.

Commencement is the Rutgers University-wide graduation ceremony. Convocation is the Rutgers School of Public Health’s own graduation ceremony, where graduates are individually recognized for their achievements.
