Statement on Monkeypox
July 14, 2022
Dr. Halkitis details the recent increase in monkeypox cases and vaccination opportunities.  He also reminds the school community that it is imperative we all continue to protect the rights of all people and not to utilize a situation such as this to stigmatize members of the LGBTQ population. 

Reversal of Roe v. Wade
June 27, 2022
In response to the Supreme Court of the United States’ decision to reverse Roe v. Wade, Dr. Halkitis reaffirms the school’s commitment to social justice, conducting timely research, educating others, and advocating for policies that protect and promote human rights and health.

Marking Juneteenth

Drs. Halkitis and Lassiter commemorate Juneteenth, which serves as a reminder of African Americans’ journey and historical fight for freedom in the United States. They encourage individuals to utilize this holiday for celebration and reflection.

As we dedicate June to remember the impact, influence, and achievements of LGBTQ+ people, Dr. Halkitis shares, “we all must take a stand against acts of hate, and we must elect those who will support and not undermine the health of LGBTQ+ people and populations.”

2021 Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Award Recipient Announced
April 14, 2021
Laurie Garrett, Pulitzer-Prize-winning journalist, has been named the 2021 Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Awardee by the Rutgers School of Public Health. She will serve as the school’s speaker at their 38th graduation ceremony, which will virtually launch on May 14, 2021.
