Biography
Clare Barrington, Ph.D., M.P.H., is professor and chair of the Department of Health Behavior, Society, and Policy at the Rutgers School of Public Health.
Prior to joining the faculty at Rutgers, Dr. Barrington was a Professor in the Department of Health Behavior at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was also a fellow with the Carolina Population Center. She obtained a BA in Health and Society and Development Studies from Brown University and an MPH and PhD in International Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Research Interests
Dr. Barrington conducts mixed-methods research on social and structural influences on health, with a geographic focus in Latin America. She has led studies to develop and adapt innovative, multilevel interventions to promote holistic health and wellbeing, especially among people with HIV and other chronic conditions. She has also worked extensively on impact evaluations of structural interventions, in particular cash transfers.
