Biography

Katie Darabos, Ph.D., is an instructor in the Department of Health Behavior, Society, and Policy at the Rutgers School of Public Health. She received her doctoral degree in Health Psychology and Clinical Science from The Graduate Center, City University of New York. Following graduate school, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Behavioral Oncology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Darabos' dissertation and postdoctoral fellowship were funded through a F99/K00 Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Transition award from the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute.

Research Interests

As a behavioral health scientist, Dr. Darabos' program of research broadly focuses on examining the biobehavioral factors (referring collectively to behavioral, social, and/or psychological factors and associated biological processes) that are associated with adjustment and health-related decision-making among young adults with cancer. Her work utilizes qualitative and quantitative methods as well as mHealth approaches (e.g., ecological momentary assessment) and application of salivary bioscience (e.g., salivary cortisol and salivary alpha amylase) to answer research questions aimed at improving the lives of young adults with cancer.
