Training Courses for Becoming an Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer

To become an OSHA authorized trainer, a person must complete a two-course sequence in either Construction or General Industry, and have five years of related experience in occupational safety and health. These courses are offered through the Office of Public Health Practice - Center for Education and Training for eligible school personnel. Individuals must meet the eligibility criteria if they wish to obtain or renew their OSHA Outreach Trainer certification.

These courses may be taken by New Jersey vocational-technical education school teachers or school administrators who want to teach their students or other school personnel the OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Construction or General Industry Outreach Course and issue OSHA Cards.

School personnel may take OSHA teacher trainer courses in either Construction or General Industry. Each topic area has its own two-course sequence requirement for becoming an authorized trainer, plus an additional trainer update course to be taken periodically after obtaining certification. See the tables below for information on the required teacher trainer course sequences for Construction and General Industry.
