Federal Wage and Hour and Child Labor Laws, Regulations, and Hazardous Orders Course

This online course meets part of the New Jersey Department of Education requirements for structured learning experience (SLE) supervision. The online course is hosted on the Rutgers Canvas learning management system (LMS) and takes about 4-6 hours to complete. The course content covers various federal wage and hour and child labor laws, regulations, and hazardous orders governing minors in the workplace under the Fair Labor Standards Act and not more stringently addressed by New Jersey state laws or regulations. Included are federal exemptions for special needs/disabled workers. The course is designed to assist districts and teachers to ensure student work placements are in compliance with federal laws, regulations, and hazardous orders.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion for 6.0 PDUs via email once payment is received for the course.

You must complete the four required work-based learning online courses during the same cohort. For the live sessions, please select the same virtual live session date to complete the three live sessions for the NJ Wage and Hour, Designing and Implementing Student Training Plans, and OSHA 10+ General Industry courses on the same day. The Federal Wage and Hour course does not include a virtual live session. You must be available between 12:00 PM and 4:30 PM on the live session date you choose.
