2024 Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Award Recipient & Convocation Speaker

Khiara M. Bridges, J.D., Ph.D. – a law professor, anthropologist, and nationally-recognized expert on the intersection of race, class, and reproductive rights – has been named the 2024 Frank R. Lautenberg Award recipient by the Rutgers School of Public Health. She will also serve as the school’s 41st graduation speaker.

Hailed as the School’s highest honor, the Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Award was established in 2001 to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to public health through a significant record of advocacy, the development of programs, and capacity building that has led to expanded research, education, and service opportunities.

  • Join the Rutgers University’s 258th Anniversary Commencement (aka Rutgers University – New Brunswick and Rutgers Health Commencement) on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey. President Jonathan Holloway will address the degree candidates and guests and confer degrees. The Rutgers University - New Brunswick and Rutgers Health Commencement is only open to the Class of 2024 (October 2023, January 2024, May 2024). We encourage people to attend and represent our school and students. Those participating in the Commencement ceremony will need to wear academic regalia (see above, “attire”). 

    Members of the Rutgers Community, please be reminded that this University event is taking place to celebrate the culmination of our students’ hard work and earned degrees.  It is a momentous event for our many graduates and their guests, activities that disrupt the ceremony will not be tolerated.

    Learn More About Commencement

  • This is an opportunity to recognize Rutgers School of Public Health Class of 2024 students for their tremendous academic and service-related achievements, as well as welcome new inductees to the Delta Omega Honor Society. Special registration will be required. This event is only open to invited individuals from the Class of 2024, and a limited number of their guests, who are selected through our End of Year Awards nomination process (October 2023, January 2024, and May 2024 graduates).   • Commencement is the Rutgers University-wide graduation ceremony. Convocation is the Rutgers School of Public Health’s own graduation ceremony, where graduates are individually recognized for their achievements.
