Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.

My name is Hang Zhou, and I am an international student from China with a background in public health. I first became interested in public health while working as a technical specialist in JnJ, where I saw how medical technology impacts patient lives. This experience led me to pursue Biostatistics because I want to use data to solve complex health problems and improve clinical outcomes.

As a Biostatistics student, I spend a lot of time analyzing data, but I know that health is about more than just numbers; it’s about real people and their well-being.

Master of Science Student and Wellness PHirst Ambassador

My current research interests involve using statistical modeling to understand health trends and using data to solve real-world health problems. I really enjoy the challenge of turning raw data into meaningful insights that can help vulnerable populations.

Why did you choose to become a Wellness PHirst Ambassador?

I chose to be a Wellness PHirst Ambassador because I want to help create a supportive environment for students. As a Biostatistics student, I spend a lot of time analyzing data, but I know that health is about more than just numbers; it’s about real people and their well-being.

This role connects perfectly with my studies because it allows me to promote health equity and wellness directly within our own community. My goal is to use my experience to help others find a healthy balance between their academic goals and their personal wellness.

What do you enjoy doing outside of your academic and professional life?

I am very passionate about staying active and love spending time at the gym. I also enjoy playing tennis and going swimming whenever I have some free time. I truly love talking to people from different backgrounds and hearing their stories, customs, and cultures. It makes me feel like I have lived in those places myself, which is like living a "virtual life" through their experiences.
