Biography
Dr. Clifford received a BA in psychology from the City University of New York, College of Staten Island, an MA in psychology from the City University of New York, Hunter College, and a PhD in Behavioral Science from the University of Texas, Health Science Center at Houston, School of Public Health. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship, National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIH/NIAAA) T32 program, in alcohol treatment/intervention research at Brown University, Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies.

Research Highlights

Dr. Clifford’s research interests center on methodological and theoretical issues specific to alcohol treatment/intervention research.  More specifically, his research involves investigations of assessment reactivity effects, mechanisms of behavior change underlying alcohol treatments/interventions, and the matching of individuals suffering an alcohol use disorder with specific AUD treatments/interventions. In addition, Dr. Clifford enjoys training graduate students to conduct clinical research related to alcohol treatments/interventions as well as mentoring graduate students and junior faculty.
