Message from Vice Dean

Public health research directly contributes to our quality of life. This includes the education that we deliver to our students and the information we provide to agencies, organizations, communities, and citizens. Public health threats, ranging from common infectious diseases to the potential use of weapons of mass destruction, impact our daily existence. We are constantly challenged to make sound decisions to live healthier in a fast-paced society. One of the ways that we can meet these challenges is by conducting research that contributes to the current body of knowledge on cause and effect and on preventive steps we can take.

Growing our School’s research enterprise is a key goal this academic year. As such, I will be focused on building an Office of Research that provides our faculty with an efficient research administration infrastructure that supports our excellent science and scholarship. Moreover, connecting faculty to relevant grant opportunities and providing grantsmanship support will be a priority. I am excited to share with you that two staff members will join the Office of Research this fall. These staff members will play a critical role in growing our Office, which will enable us to provide dedicated support, such as facilitating effective biographical sketches, facilities and resources documents, letters of support, funding agency required forms, and editorial review of “works in process” documents. These services will provide faculty with time for focused attention on the scientific and programmatic aspects of their endeavors.

Thank you for visiting our website. We are always looking for ways to improve. If you have specific feedback on research support, please do not hesitate to stop by, call, or email me.

Sincerely,

Cristine Delnevo, PhD, MPH
Vice Dean and Professor
