Welcome to the Department of Epidemiology which is housed at 683 Hoes Lane West, Piscataway. The Department has a long tradition of excellence in teaching, research and community services and has nine (9) primary, eight (8) secondary and 20 adjunct faculty members. The mission of the Department is to improve the health status of residents of New Jersey and elsewhere by conducting population-based epidemiologic studies, training public health professionals at various levels and serving the New Jersey community. The Department has a strong working relationship and academic ties with the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the only comprehensive cancer center in New Jersey. Department faculty members specialize in the areas of cancer, perinatal, social, occupational and environmental epidemiology as well as in health outcomes research. The Department offers doctoral, masters and certificate level education to students from various backgrounds and our graduates hold key positions in pharmaceutical firms, voluntary health organizations, health departments, consulting firms, hospitals, health insurance and managed care organizations and academia. The Department also offers a post-doctoral fellowship programs in health outcomes for masters and doctoral graduates in collaboration with Merck, Inc and Daiichi-Sankyo inc.
